Welcome to SDHC, My name is C.J. Gausvik MH CHt, and I'll be your guide
in this journey of self discovery. First, I want to dispel some of the
MYTHS about Hypnosis.
- MYTH: It's against my religion.
TRUTH: Hypnosis is a NATURAL state of mind, and has nothing to do with
anything anti-religious, or religious. It is NOT mind control, devil
worship, or against any teachings of the Bible. If anyone tells you
it is against Christianity (or any other religion for that matter) they
know nothing about real hypnosis, and believe the Hollywood hype.
- MYTH: It's a form of mind control.
TRUTH: No one can make you say or do ANYTHING that goes against your
morals, values, wishes, or desires. In other words you never lose control,
and no one can make you do anything you don't want to do.
- MYTH: You're unconscious during Hypnosis
TRUTH: You are never "asleep", you remain fully aware of what's
going on around you.
- MYTH: I can't be hypnotized.
TRUTH: ANYONE CAN be hypnotized, except for very young children, and
the mentally handicapped, and in those cases it's a matter of being
understood, rather than the ability.
- MYTH: I heard that sometimes you can get "Stuck" in hypnosis.
TRUTH: There is no danger of being stuck in hypnosis. It is a very pleasant
state of mind, and sometimes people don't WANT to come out of it, but
they get bored very soon, or fall asleep and come out of it when they
get ready to. NO ONE has ever got "stuck" in hypnosis.
- MYTH: Almost every movie or television show you have ever seen.
TRUTH: Hypnosis is nothing like the Hollywood stereotype, it is a SAFE,
PLEASANT, and BENEFICIAL state of mind, that has some real power to
affect changes for the better.
There is nothing magical or supernatural about Hypnosis, and there is
not ONE documented case of harm coming to anyone as a result of it's therapeutic
use. There are many more misconceptions about hypnosis, so many that it
is hard to imagine, and some are absolutely laughable! The best this to
do, is if you have any questions about hypnosis, ASK ME... I will be frank,
and to the point.
